What is a CMS Collection?

A CMS Collection in Webflow CMS is a structured content type — essentially a custom database table that holds a specific category of content on your website.

Each Collection has fields you define: text, images, dates, links, rich text, references to other Collections, and more. Every individual entry in a Collection is called a Collection Item. For example, a "Case Studies" Collection might have fields for Client Name, Industry, Project Summary, Hero Image, Results, and Testimonial.

What Collections Power

Collections power the dynamic parts of your Webflow site. Once you set one up, you can display Collection Items in a Collection List anywhere on the site, auto-generate a unique Collection Page for each item, filter, sort, and limit which items appear in each list, and reference one Collection from another.

Collections are what separate a static brochure site from a scalable, content-driven website. They allow non-technical team members to add and update content without touching the design.
